Diagnose it once, fix it properly, protect your tenants and your asset.
Damp and mould are now a compliance issue as much as a maintenance one. We give landlords an independent, measured diagnosis of the real cause — so remediation works first time and your obligations are demonstrably met.
Tenant complaints about damp, mould and cold rooms increasingly carry legal weight, and 'wipe and repaint' no longer protects anyone. The cause might be condensation from inadequate ventilation, a cold thermal bridge, a penetrating-damp defect or a combination — and each needs a different fix. We measure before we recommend, so you spend on the remedy that actually resolves it, evidence your response, and avoid both repeat call-outs and disproportionate damp-company specifications.
The challenges we solve
- Recurring condensation and black mould in single-glazed or poorly ventilated lets.
- Awaab's-Law-style timescales and the need to act promptly on evidence.
- Expensive chemical-DPC or tanking quotes for problems that are actually condensation.
- Poor EPC ratings and the direction of travel on minimum energy-efficiency standards.
- Cold, hard-to-heat solid-wall stock with high tenant running costs.
How RetrofitIQ supports you
Independent damp & mould diagnosis
Measured diagnosis of the true mechanism so you fund the correct, proportionate remedy — not the wrong one.
Ventilation & humidity strategy
Right-sized continuous extract or MVHR to control the moisture load and stop mould returning.
Fabric & EPC improvement advice
Building-physics-led insulation and airtightness measures that genuinely lift performance and comfort.
Evidenced compliance trail
A clear written record of the investigation, cause and remedy to support your obligations.
- Written diagnosis with photographs and thermal images
- The actual cause and a proportionate, costed remedy
- A ventilation recommendation matched to the property
- Fabric measures that meaningfully improve EPC and comfort
- Optional end-to-end remediation by one accountable team
Common questions
My tenant has mould — what should I do first?
Get it diagnosed before you spend. Most mould is condensation driven by cold surfaces and inadequate ventilation, not rising damp. We measure the cause and give you the correct, proportionate remedy and a documented trail.
Will fixing the cause cost more than a damp-proofing company?
Usually less. The correct remedy for condensation (surface-temperature and ventilation improvements) is often far cheaper than an unnecessary chemical DPC or tanking — and it actually works.
Can you help improve my EPC?
Yes. We advise on the fabric and ventilation measures that improve real performance and comfort, which is the durable way to lift an EPC.
Investigate → Diagnose → Design → Remediate → Verify
RetrofitIQ is not only a diagnostics company. We take projects from first investigation through to verified improvement — and you decide how far we go. Engage us for an investigation on its own, an investigation plus targeted remedial works, or a complete building-performance and retrofit project.
A measured diagnosis — thermal imaging, blower door testing, moisture and building-physics analysis — with a clear, costed report you can act on however you choose.
We investigate, then carry out targeted remedial works — airtightness, insulation, ventilation or thermal-bridge corrections — and verify the result.
A full fabric-first, Passive House-informed retrofit from diagnosis through design, installation and verification — one accountable team, one point of responsibility.
