Measured building data your specification can rely on.
We give architects and design teams the measured building-physics evidence to specify with confidence — pre-design surveys, hygrothermal modelling and post-works verification, by a Certified Passive House Designer.
Drawings assume how a building performs; measurement proves it. On refurbishment and retrofit projects the existing fabric rarely behaves the way the elevations suggest — solid walls, hidden voids, slumped insulation, air-leakage paths and thermal bridges all change what a detail needs to do. We provide the diagnostic baseline that lets you design from evidence rather than assumption, and the verification that protects you at handover.
The challenges we solve
- Specifying internal wall insulation on solid-wall stock without a hygrothermal model — the single biggest source of post-completion condensation claims.
- Junction and reveal details that look right on paper but create geometric thermal bridges and cold-spot mould in use.
- Airtightness targets written into the spec with no measured baseline to design the air barrier around.
- Heritage and conservation constraints that rule out external insulation and demand a vapour-open, moisture-safe approach.
- Coordinating ventilation with a tightened envelope so the fabric upgrade does not import damp.
How RetrofitIQ supports you
Pre-design diagnostic survey
Thermal imaging, blower-door testing, moisture and humidity logging to baseline the existing fabric before you commit details to drawings.
Hygrothermal (WUFI/Glaser) modelling
Moisture-risk modelling of proposed IWI and solid-wall build-ups against site-specific climate data, so the spec is provably safe.
Passive House & EnerPHit input
Fabric-first, thermal-bridge-free detailing and PHPP-aligned target setting from a Certified Passive House Designer.
Post-works verification
Re-test and re-image at completion — measured ACH₅₀ and thermal evidence the design intent was actually delivered.
- Written diagnostic report with calibrated FLIR imagery and measured surface temperatures
- Air-permeability / ACH₅₀ baseline and smoke-traced leakage map
- Hygrothermal model output for any internal-insulation build-up
- Prioritised, buildable remediation and detailing strategy
- Independent, manufacturer-neutral specification advice
Common questions
Can you work alongside our practice on a single detail or a whole project?
Both. We are often brought in for a one-off hygrothermal model on a tricky IWI junction, and equally to baseline and verify a whole-house deep retrofit. We work to your programme and report to your team.
Are you independent of product manufacturers?
Yes. Our diagnostics and specifications are manufacturer-neutral. We recommend build-ups on building-physics grounds, not on a supply relationship.
Do you provide CPD or design-stage workshops?
We can run informal design-stage sessions on airtightness strategy, moisture-safe IWI and thermal-bridge-free detailing for project teams. Get in touch to arrange.
Investigate → Diagnose → Design → Remediate → Verify
RetrofitIQ is not only a diagnostics company. We take projects from first investigation through to verified improvement — and you decide how far we go. Engage us for an investigation on its own, an investigation plus targeted remedial works, or a complete building-performance and retrofit project.
A measured diagnosis — thermal imaging, blower door testing, moisture and building-physics analysis — with a clear, costed report you can act on however you choose.
We investigate, then carry out targeted remedial works — airtightness, insulation, ventilation or thermal-bridge corrections — and verify the result.
A full fabric-first, Passive House-informed retrofit from diagnosis through design, installation and verification — one accountable team, one point of responsibility.
