Evidence that keeps a sale moving.
When a survey flags damp, mould or cold rooms, a transaction stalls. We provide fast, independent, measured diagnostics that establish the real cause — so vendors, buyers and agents can act on evidence, not worst-case assumptions.
A buyer's survey that mentions 'damp' or 'high moisture readings' rarely diagnoses anything — it flags a symptom and recommends a specialist. That single line can knock thousands off a price or collapse a chain. Most of the time the cause is condensation or a localised penetrating-damp defect, not the structural rising damp buyers fear. We measure surface temperatures, humidity and moisture properly and tell everyone what is actually happening, with a written report that stands up to scrutiny.
The challenges we solve
- Buyer's surveys flagging 'damp' with a moisture-meter reading but no diagnosis — triggering renegotiation or fall-through.
- Mould in a let or vacant property raising health and Awaab's-Law-style concerns.
- Cold, hard-to-heat period homes scoring poorly on EPC and putting off buyers.
- Conflicting damp-company quotes (chemical DPC, tanking) inflating perceived cost of works.
- Vendors needing a credible, independent second opinion to defend the asking price.
How RetrofitIQ supports you
Rapid damp & condensation diagnosis
Thermal imaging, moisture mapping and dew-point analysis to confirm whether it is condensation, penetrating damp or (rarely) genuine rising damp.
Independent second-opinion reports
A manufacturer-neutral report that often replaces a £6,000 chemical-DPC quote with a far smaller, correct remedy.
Pre-marketing health check
Identify and cost the issues before listing, so there are no surprises in the buyer's survey.
Plain-English summaries
A clear one-page summary for buyers and vendors alongside the technical report.
- Independent written diagnosis with photographs and FLIR images
- A clear statement of the actual cause and the proportionate remedy
- Indicative costs to inform price negotiation
- Fast turnaround to keep the transaction on track
- A report buyers' solicitors and surveyors will accept
Common questions
How quickly can you attend and report?
For transaction-critical damp and mould issues we prioritise the survey, typically within a few working days, with the written report shortly after. Tell us the deadline and we will work to it.
Will your report contradict the buyer's surveyor?
We do not contradict for its own sake — we measure. Where a generic 'damp' flag was actually condensation, our data shows it, which usually de-escalates the negotiation and the cost.
Do you carry out the remedial works too?
We can. We Investigate, Diagnose, Design, Remediate and Verify — so the same accountable team can also resolve the issue if the parties want that.
Investigate → Diagnose → Design → Remediate → Verify
RetrofitIQ is not only a diagnostics company. We take projects from first investigation through to verified improvement — and you decide how far we go. Engage us for an investigation on its own, an investigation plus targeted remedial works, or a complete building-performance and retrofit project.
A measured diagnosis — thermal imaging, blower door testing, moisture and building-physics analysis — with a clear, costed report you can act on however you choose.
We investigate, then carry out targeted remedial works — airtightness, insulation, ventilation or thermal-bridge corrections — and verify the result.
A full fabric-first, Passive House-informed retrofit from diagnosis through design, installation and verification — one accountable team, one point of responsibility.
